CHILLÉ was born from friendship, passion, and the simple love of good food.
Wang, a video producer, has known Acap since they were both 19 years old. Acap grew up in the F&B world, helping his family run catering services and school canteens. They were brought together by their shared passion for music, as both are drummers in their own bands.
Fast forward a decade, during one of Wang’s commercial shoots, the set required catering for more than 20 people. Wang called Acap, who prepared his signature nasi lemak as part of the menu. The sambal was an instant hit, leaving both crew and clients raving.
After several shoots that followed, Acap introduced new dishes such as ayam penyet, served with his bold sambal belacan. Once again, the sambal became the star of the meal, quickly becoming a crowd favourite.
After witnessing the consistent love for Acap’s food, Wang asked the obvious question: “Have you thought about selling your sambals?” With that, Acap took a leap of faith. Wang took the role of storyteller, branding and marketing, while Acap poured his expertise into recipes and flavours. Together, they created CHILLÉ, a brand that celebrates authentic tastes made to be shared.
Today, CHILLÉ offers five products, with more in development including chilli oil, instant meals, and festive specialties like Acap’s tender rendang, which became a hit during Raya.
From these humble beginnings, CHILLÉ hopes to grow into a food hub that brings together exciting local flavours, as well as inspirations from Indonesia and Thailand.
